Pageviews

Hi Mforns (WMF), Your name is displayed at the bottom of pageviews that I see at the English Wikiquote. I use the pageviews facility quite a bit and am always having trouble reporting a problem when it persists long enough to impact my ability to be effective. For example earlier today when I tried reporting I discovered that one of the three people listed with you at the bottom of the page has retired from enwp in 2021.

@Ottawahitech. Hi. It is almost always best to use the official feedback page for a tool/feature, instead of a single person's talkpage. E.g. the bottom of the pageviews tool page says "Report an issue" which links to m:Talk:Pageviews Analysis. Please ask your questions there, so that anyone familiar (with whatever it is you ask) can reply in a centralized location, and so that anyone else who encounters a similar problem (now or in the future) can potentially learn from the reply (which they wouldn't be likely to find in this random talkpage). @Quiddity (WMF), Thanks for replying. I did not notice a link to m:Talk:Pageviews Analysis, but since there is no access to Pageviews on this foundation wiki (I Think?), I'll have to look at one again when I am back at my home-wiki.

In any event I do not have write-access to META (see your foundation usertalk page) id there any other way for me to ask questions or report errors? Ottawahitech (talk) 15:04, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

@[[User:Quiddity (WMF)|Quiddity (WMF)]], Yesterday I tried to report an issue when I was editing Wikidata. I was in [[xTool]] so I looked at the bottom and saw a link.. ::oops just got a {{green|Wikimedia Foundation Error ::Our servers are currently under maintenance or experiencing a technical problem. Please try again in a few minutes. ::See the error message at the bottom of this page for more information}} when I tried to retrace my steps yesterday in order to try to make a coherent post here. ::I guess I wiil to trust my memory for the rest of this post, sigh... ::The link I clicked from WD led me to a forum dedicated to reporting xTools errors. This forum, I was heartened to see, was on media wiki where I am yet to be undef-blocked. So I left my report hoping it will be responded to promptly, and went back home to enwq. Today I was again experiencing problem with Pagviews and that reminded me that @[[User:MusikAnimal (WMF)|MusikAnimal (WMF)]] without the wmf is the one who seemed to be manning the xTOOL page as well as being the third person at the bottom of Pageviews.
