Krenair

Why isn't he listed on the staff page? Maybe he is, but I can't find him. PiRSquared17 (talk) 21:52, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

He's not listed currently. The criteria for when contractors get added to the staff page, are somewhat complex. I think it has something to do with both length and type of contract? (Some contractors are purposefully not listed, iirc). HR is in charge of all that, so if you want specific details, ask them. :) NWilson (WMF) (talk) 22:51, 24 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Possible impersonation/fake or simply in-expertise?

Hi Quiddity, on meta.wiki there's a new user that is trying to setup a user page in partly copying other users' data, and stating that they work for the WMF. Could you have a look, please? --M7 (talk) 11:55, 15 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi @M7, thanks for the note. Searching the text used there, it's a direct copy of this other userpage (with minor tweaks). They are definitely not staff, as we are firmly told not to create our own staff account. They may just be a person trying to experiment with formatting? Please go ahead and ask them not to do so, or blank it, or block them if they are impersonating staff in discussions, etc, as you see fit. Thanks again. Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 18:48, 15 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
The only edits were those on the user page. I just left a note to the user in their talk, and removed almost anything. Cheers, --M7 (talk) 19:14, 15 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hello again. The aforementioned user has reinstated some content on their own user page on meta, stating that they work for the WMF and displaying a @wikimedia.org e-mail address. Since I already removed some content leaving an explanation, I'd prefer to escalate this to the WMF itself, asking if you could kindly have a look and act, or have someone else with a valid WMF account to solve this. Thanks a lot, --M7 (talk) 07:47, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Communicating a technical problem on wikimedia projects

Hi Quiddity (WMF), your userpage say you are a Senior Movement Communications Specialist, which I hope means helping people solve their communication problems.

I am a volunteer on the English Wikiquote and I have a problem which I do not know how to solve and need to communicate with someone who may be able to help me. It is a simple technical problem, but my inability to solve it is detracting from my ability t contribute to the sum of all knowledge.

Here it is: I have clicked Subscribe on several discussion-threads but Many times I do not get a notification when someone posts a reply, and when I happen to revisit these threads I often find out that my Subscribe has been turned off.

Can you tell me who I should ask? I am currently indef-blocked a enwp, sewp, and meta. I am in good standing, I hope, at enwq, so there should be a place where I can post a technical question, No?

Cheers, Ottawahitech (talk) 13:27, 12 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Sorry for the delay, I was out sick for a few days.
For technical problems, Phabricator (docs: mw:Phabricator) is the place to make bug-reports. Create a new task there, with the details of your problem, and add the "tag" of 'discussiontools'. Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 00:30, 23 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
WMF employees should not be allowedd sick leave, just kidding.
As far as the fabricator: I have looked at it once or twice, but the idea of having to learn how to navigate a totally new (to me) non-wiki social netsork is daunting. But thanks anyway for the suggestion, as persona non-grata on wmf-wikis, I don't have many options left, do I? Ottawahitech (talk) 16:15, 24 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Proxy editing

Hi Quiddity (WMF): I have been accused of Roxy-editing many times since 2017, so am hesitant to report a glaring error I have recently observed on a fairly prominent Canadian-content article in the w:wp:main space. Can you think of a way I can communicate this problem to anyone?

Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 15:14, 13 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

I am not familiar with the best practices for this complex area, sorry. Quiddity (WMF) (talk) 00:32, 23 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
